Chapter 3.

Closing the front door behind them Poppy and Felicity make for the car which is parked in their designated parking space at the back of their apartment block. Poppy got into the passenger side of the car with her handbag while Felicity puts Poppy’s case into the boot before driving her to the nearby train station which is just under 10 minutes away through the back streets.

Even after what just happened the closeness that was once there between them seems to slowly be disappearing. Poppy always gets a distant feeling from Felicity these days, like she would rather be somewhere else.

“Did that mean nothing to her, was it just out of need?” Poppy thought while feeling quite sad about the situation.

Poppy has always known Felicity, who is two years older than her craves excitement in her life. Whether it be with work, where she seems to change her job every eighteen months or so because she gets bored, or just trying something new in her private life. But since Felicity was made redundant two weeks ago from job number five in around two and a half years, she has been spending all her time with Cindy.

Poppy doesn’t think there is anything underhand going on between them, as Felicity has always made it clear she would never cheat. Plus, she can’t see Cindy giving up the promise of the big house, the top of the range convertible car, and everything else that Barry gives her or pays for. Plus, the hair extensions, fake tan, false nails and all the bling have never really appealed to Felicity.

“It is just the excitement as her job was boring, and things had seemed to have gone stale between us.” Poppy thought. But spending all her spare time with Cindy means she is not looking for a new job, as with a small amount of holiday money in her bank account, she is not motivated to look for a new one just yet.
